Britney Jean Spears

Britney Jean Spears was conceived in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood. Britney had dance lessons as a youngster and was a superb gymnast. She won numerous competitions. But, perhaps most importantly, Britney loved to sing. Britney was a candidate for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) at age 8. She was denied because of her age. The show then redirected her to an off-Broadway musical, "Ruthless", for an entire two-year run as the title character. When she was 11 she was back in the running for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) and it was this time she made it as a mouseketeer alongside many stars of today (Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez from *NSYNC as well as Ryan Gosling). However, her biggest break was in the late 1990s when she signed a contract as a Jive Recording artist. When she released her debut album"Baby One More Time" "...Baby One More Time" in the early part of 1999, Britney became a global hit with 13 million copies of "Baby" and 9 million (as as of July 2001) of her sophomore album "Oops !...I Did It Again", released in May 2000. Britney was the daughter of Lynne Spears and Jamie Spears. She has one of her brothers Bryan Spears and a little sister Jamie Lynn Spears. From a young age, Britney was always fixing to be a star with her idols like Madonna, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, the young Britney was always singing, regardless of the other events going on around her. After having a lot of vocal and dance lessons, as well as participating in numerous talent shows and fairs, Britney was a candidate for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) television show (from 1989 to 1994) when she was 8years old, however, she was too young to be able to audition for the role. Instead, Britney, her mother and baby sister moved to New York where she starred in a variety of TV commercials as well as an off-Broadway production, "Ruthless", where she was understudy with Natalie Portman. She discovered her love of music and dancing two years later when she auditioned for the role of "Mickey Mouse" and was able to win the role along with Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera.
